The bridge, Orange Avenue, and two bases

Coronado is the island and the strand across the bay from downtown San Diego. Orange Avenue is the main street, from the ferry landing area down toward the Hotel del Coronado at the south end. The San Diego-Coronado Bridge is the usual drive. Naval Air Station North Island occupies the north end. Naval Amphibious Base Coronado is on the strand. Street addresses in the village are standard coverage: four attempts, no rural surcharge. The bridge is the usual arrival, and bridge traffic changes the clock. Orange Avenue then runs the length of the island, from the ferry landing to the hotel. The strand south toward Imperial Beach is a single road with the amphibious base alongside it. A village house, a shop on Orange, and a base building are three different kinds of stop. The first two are the metro price. The base is the $65 job described below. If you only have a post office box or 'Coronado' with no street, the order is not ready. Four attempts need a door.

The nearest courthouse is the Central Division in downtown San Diego, in the 1100 Union Street area, on the other side of the bridge. The South County courthouse in Chula Vista is farther around the bay. For Coronado, Central is closer. The office is in Mission Valley, not on Orange Avenue.

Base addresses are different from the village. North Island and the amphibious base add $65, and the attempt requires base approval. If the attempt cannot be arranged, the service fees are refunded. A house or shop on Orange Avenue is the metro price even if a gate is nearby.

Village price versus base price

In person, the server carries the papers to the address. Same day is $195, and the first attempt is the business day the order is accepted. Next day is $175. Standard is $150 and waits no longer than three days for the first attempt. Four attempts, notes, and a proof of service are included. A declaration of due diligence follows if service is not made. San Diego County courts are mailed the proof of service/declaration for self-represented customers. Other courts are not. You receive the proof and file it. The $65 base fee, when it applies, sits on top of whichever of those three prices you picked.
