San Diego process server
The Mission Valley office
San Diego process serving runs out of one office, in Mission Valley, at 3111 Camino Del Rio North, Suite 400A, San Diego, CA 92108. That suite is the business address. There is not a second desk downtown, at the harbor, or by the Miramar gates. A server picks up the papers and drives. Downtown towers near the water, houses off Interstate 163, apartments along the bay, and workplaces beside MCAS Miramar on Interstate 15 are all inside this city page. San Diego is standard coverage: four attempts, and the rural surcharge does not apply. The metro price is the whole distance charge.
Central court and the bases
The nearest San Diego Superior Court division is the Central Division, downtown, in the 1100 Union Street area. The South County courthouse in Chula Vista, the East County courthouse in El Cajon, and the North County courthouse in Vista are the other three divisions, and each of them is farther from a central San Diego address. When you are representing yourself and the case is in a San Diego County court, the proof of service/declaration is mailed to the court. When the court is somewhere else, the proof is returned to you to file. Which courthouse should receive your case is not something we decide. We serve the address.
Two military installations sit inside the city limits and are not ordinary street addresses. Naval Base San Diego is on the harbor. MCAS Miramar is inland, next to the 15. A serve on either base adds $65, and the base has to approve the attempt before anyone goes to the door. If the attempt cannot be arranged, the service fees are refunded. Housing and businesses outside the fence, even when they are a block from a gate, are the regular metro price. Put the building number and the unit on the order so the request is the one the base will recognize.
What an in-person serve includes
An in-person serve is a person going to the address, not a letter. Same day is $195, and the first attempt is the day the order is accepted. Next day is $175, with the first attempt by the next day. Standard is $150, and the first attempt is within one to three days. Each of those three includes four attempts, a note of what happened each time, and a proof of service. If the four attempts are used and the person was not served, you receive a declaration of due diligence. An order that arrives after closing, or on a weekend, is processed the next business day, so a late Friday same-day request starts Monday. The office phone is answered Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm PST, at 619-399-3278.
Service attempts are also made outside of these office hours.
Someone in custody
Incarceration service covers a person in custody. The first attempt is within one to three days, and the job includes four attempts. It is not on the order form. This is the only city page that covers custody serves. The company is licensed and bonded.
Where to go next
When the address and the papers are ready, place the job on the order page. The same-day process serving page is the longer note on the $195 option. What gets mailed to a San Diego County court, and what is handed back, is on the proof of service guide. The full city list is the areas page. La Jolla is part of the City of San Diego, farther up the coast, with its own notes on the La Jolla page. National City begins south of the bayfront neighborhoods and stays on this same metro price. That page is National City.
