San Diego County
Same day process serving
Same Day Service of Process is $195. The first attempt is the same day, and four attempts are included. For self-represented people, the proof of service/declaration is mailed to San Diego County courts.
What the $195 includes
Same day process serving is a trip to the address on your order. The price is $195. We make the first attempt the day the office works the file, then up to three more. Four attempts are included. We serve the person named in the papers if they are at that address. A witness fee is the check written to that person. The order adds 8% or $4.00, whichever is greater.
The job is not a search. If the person has moved, the attempts still happen at the address you entered. When you need a newer address first, order a skip trace. Basic tracing is $50 per individual and comprehensive tracing is $200. A trace that finds nothing is refunded in full.
When same day actually starts
The office is open Mon–Fri, 7am–5pm PST, at 3111 Camino Del Rio North, Suite 400A, San Diego, CA 92108. An order placed in those hours can be attempted the same day. An order placed after closing is processed the next business day. The first attempt follows that processing day, not the evening you pressed submit.
Service attempts are also made outside of these office hours.
A Friday order after 5pm starts Monday. We do not run a weekend counter. If you need the server inside a set window, add a specific date and time for $30. That is a window, not a wait at the curb. A wait is a stakeout, at $80 per hour with a two-hour minimum. The office confirms whether that watch is open.
The proof after the attempts
When the work is finished, we prepare the proof of service/declaration. For self-represented people, we mail that proof of service/declaration to San Diego County courts. You get a copy for your file. The mailing is part of the $195. It is not a separate court-filing charge.
If the case is in another court, or a lawyer is filing, we email or mail the proof of service/declaration back to you. You handle that filing. We record the day, the time, and what happened at the door. If four attempts are used and the person is not served, you receive a declaration of due diligence. That paper records the work. It is not a court ruling.
Same address, rural roads, and bases
An extra person at the same address is $40. That fee applies to same day, next day, and standard in-person serves only. Two people in one household are $195 plus $40, not two full serves. Another address for those same people is $85 more, at standard speed, on this serve.
Jamul, Alpine, Ramona, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Valley Center, and Bonsall are rural outlying towns. Those addresses are $45 more, and they get three attempts instead of four. Extra-rural back country is $100 more and two attempts. Call 619-399-3278 before you order an extra-rural address. A San Diego County military base needs the $65 base add-on on top of the serve.
Papers, printing, and the cart
Upload the documents with the order. We print them for the route. The first 40 pages are included. Each page after that is $.30. An additional case on the same trip is $30. Put the court, the case number, and the hearing date in the order if you have them. We carry the papers. We do not draft them.
Notarization is $40 per signature if you want a proof notarized. Say so on the order. We are licensed and bonded, and the work stays inside San Diego County. We attempt the serve you paid for. We do not tell you whether your papers are the right ones for the case.
