The village and Grossmont
La Mesa's downtown is the village along La Mesa Boulevard, a few blocks of stores and a trolley stop, not a high-rise core. Grossmont is the other commercial name people use, up by the freeway. Interstate 8 is how you cross the city. The trolley runs through. All of that is standard coverage. Four attempts. No rural surcharge. Sitting on the east side of the county does not make La Mesa a rural town. The $45 towns start farther out. The village along La Mesa Boulevard is a few tight blocks. Grossmont, up the hill by the freeway, is stores, medical buildings, and busier parking. The trolley stops are useful landmarks and useless as a serve address. Give the street and the unit. La Mesa is hilly. A house that looks close to the village on a map can be a winding residential street south of the 8. Say whether the attempt should be a shop that is open in the daytime or a residence after work. Four attempts can cover both kinds of hours. They cannot cover an address that was never written down.
The nearest division is East County in El Cajon, a short drive east on I-8. The Central Division downtown, around 1100 Union Street, is farther west. For a La Mesa address, El Cajon is the closer courthouse. We work from Mission Valley. The village does not have a branch office.
Prices on this side of I-8
In person, a server takes the documents to the address. Same day is $195, and the first attempt is that business day. Next day is $175. The $150 standard service makes its first attempt within one to three days. Four attempts are in the price, with notes and a proof of service. If service is not completed, you receive a declaration of due diligence. Self-represented filers in San Diego County have the proof of service/declaration mailed to the court. For other courts, the proof is returned to you.
Call 619-399-3278 on weekdays from 7am to 5pm PST. After that, orders roll to the next business day. The company is licensed and bonded.
Service attempts are also made outside of these office hours.

Start at the order page. Same-day process serving explains the $195 clock. The proof of service guide explains what gets mailed. The areas page is the city index. El Cajon is east, and the courthouse is there. San Diego proper is west on the 8, back toward the Mission Valley office.
