Where the 67 meets the 78

Ramona is the junction of Highway 67 and Highway 78, the last sizable town before the mountains. Main Street is the downtown. From here the 78 continues toward Santa Ysabel and the mountains, and the 67 drops south toward Lakeside and El Cajon. Ramona is rural coverage. The surcharge is $45, and an in-person serve includes three attempts. Main Street is the downtown people can point to. A lot of addresses are not on it. They are on acreage off the 67, off the 78, or out San Vicente Road toward the reservoir. Those driveways are the job. A house number with no cross street, on a road that runs for miles, burns an attempt at the wrong gate. Horse properties and fenced lots are normal. Put the gate side and a callback number in the notes. Ramona is the last town of this size before the mountain tier. Julian, farther east, is extra-rural and has to be confirmed by phone. Ramona can be ordered on the form.

Add the $45 on top of the service. Standard is $150 plus $45. Next day is $175 plus $45. Same day is $195 plus $45. Three attempts, not the four that come with a metro address. The nearest San Diego Superior Court division is East County in El Cajon, down Highway 67. Vista's North County courthouse is a longer trip west through Escondido. For Ramona, El Cajon is closer. The office is in Mission Valley. Getting here is a drive up the 67. There is no local branch. The surcharge is the price of that distance.

Still a person at the door

A server goes to the address in person. Same day means the first attempt on the business day the order is accepted. Next day means the next day. Standard means within one to three days. Notes come back from the attempts, and so does a proof of service. Three unsuccessful attempts produce a declaration of due diligence. If you are representing yourself, the proof of service/declaration is mailed to a San Diego County court. Any other court means the proof is returned to the customer to file.
