The courthouse is in town

The North County Division of San Diego Superior Court is in Vista, on Melrose Drive. If the address to be served is in Vista, you are already in the courthouse's city. That is the nearest division by a wide margin. Downtown San Diego's Central Division and El Cajon's East County Division are both long drives from here.

Vista's downtown runs along South Santa Fe Avenue. Highway 78 crosses the city east-west and is the road servers use from the coast and from Escondido. The edges of the city are still Vista for pricing. Standard coverage means four attempts and no rural surcharge. Towns farther north are a different tier. Do not mix them up because they share a freeway corridor. There is no office on Melrose. Rockstar's office is in Mission Valley, San Diego. The courthouse being local does not mean a process server keeps a branch inside it. South Santa Fe is the older downtown. Highway 78 is lined with businesses and is slow at rush hour. Residential Vista spreads north and south of that freeway, including the Shadowridge side, and those streets are still the metro price. A courthouse address is not a substitute for the person's address. If the papers are for someone who works near Melrose and lives elsewhere in the city, list the place you actually want attempted and the hours they are there. Four attempts go to the address on the order, not to the courthouse steps.

In-person service, priced three ways

In-person service is a server at the street address. Same day is $195, and the first attempt is the day we take the order during office hours. Next day is $175. Standard is $150, and the first attempt is made inside a one-to-three-day window. You get four attempts, a note from each, and a proof of service. If the person is not served, a declaration of due diligence closes out the attempts. San Diego County proofs of service/declarations are mailed for self-represented people. Proofs headed to any other court come back to you.
