San Diego County
Service by email
Email service is $60. Documents are served by email the same day the order is placed. One attempt is included.
A send, not a knock
Service by email is $60. We send the documents to the email address you provide. One attempt is included. There is no second inbox visit on this price, and there is no drive to a house. If you need someone at a door, order same day, next day, or standard service instead.
We do not decide whether email service is allowed in your case. Some matters allow it and some do not. That is a legal question for the court or for a lawyer. We send the message you ordered and keep a record of the send. We do not write the papers, and we do not argue that the send was enough.
The same day the order is placed
Documents are served by email the same day the order is placed. The office works Mon–Fri, 7am–5pm PST. An order placed after closing is processed the next business day, and the email goes out that day. A Saturday upload waits until Monday. The $60 does not buy a send at midnight.
Service attempts are also made outside of these office hours.
Put the correct email address in the order. We use the address you type. We do not guess a work address or pull one from a website as part of this service. If you do not have an email address, a skip trace is a different product, at $50 or $200 per individual, and it is not included here.
Extra people are not $40
On same day, next day, and standard in-person serves, an extra person at the same street address is $40. That fee does not apply to an email serve. List every recipient on the order so the office can see who the email is for. Do not add the in-person same-address fee for those names.
Do not add the in-person extra-person line and expect it to cover email names. The cart treats those as different jobs. If you are serving one person by email and another at a house, those are two services. The house serve has its own attempt count. The email has one attempt.
What to put on the order
Upload the documents and type the case caption if you have it: court, case number, parties, and hearing date. We attach what you upload. The first question we cannot answer from a blank form is which file belongs to which person. Name the recipient in the notes if more than one person is on the case.
Printing charges of $.30 per page after 40 pages are for pages we print. An email send uses the file you uploaded. A specific date and time add-on is for a door attempt, not for choosing the minute an email leaves. If you need a mailed copy as well, order First-Class or certified mail as its own line.
How this differs from the mail services
First-Class mail is $60 and certified mail is $75. Both leave the office by USPS, with a noon cutoff. Email does not go to the post office and does not use a return receipt. If you need a green card or a signature at delivery, certified mail is the line that asks whether a return receipt is required.
None of the three is a four-attempt door serve, and none of them files your proof at the courthouse by itself. Self-represented mailing of a proof to San Diego County courts is part of the in-person serve prices. Call 619-399-3278 if you are looking at a business and you are not sure whether the address you have is an email or a registered office.
